Here’s something I stumbled upon. Something I thought was as extinct as Yahoo messenger…THE DATE STAMP!
Really people? Are we that needy for a date stamp on our photos? I can pretty much ball-park when a photo was taken, based upon my awful haircut, clothes, or WHERE THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN!!!
The date stamp harkens back to the local photo lab, when people would actually look at the photos taken. Now a days, we take thousands of pictures, dump them into “My Photos” and NEVER, ever look at them. Eventually when our hard drive crashes, we shrug and realize we’ve only lost 4000 pictures of our dog…C’est la vie!
Here comes my frustration, time stamping digital photos. Has a camera manufacturer ever consideredthat DIGITAL photos contain EXIF data (Exchangeable image file format). These photos contain the date, time, even GPS coordinates of when & where a photo was taken! There is no need to garbage up a snapshot with a fire-red digital clock display of the date! No need.
For anyone looking to find out when a photo was taken, look under your toolbar under “date created.” It’s just like a word doc with pictures. Or if you want to get really fancy, and see each and every setting used to take that picture of Molly the Maltese, right click on the image, click properties, and click info.
Are we happy?
Good. Now please kill the date stamp!!! I don’t want to be a slave to the clone stamp tool!!!
